New Year, Same ....

2007 has arrived along with another sinus infection. I have been on antibiotics four times in the last year. I should get frequent flyer miles or something. I can't even remember what it feels like to be 100% healthy.

Well, First Night was pretty cool; even though, I was ill. Almost Awake came over for spinach lasagna and bread and music related conversation, as well as a tour of the house. It's nice to have friends over once in a while. Hey, it's nice to just have friends! Especially during holidays or events like New Year's Eve. After dinner, Almost Awake played at a local church as a part of Fulton County's First Night celebration thing. The acoustics of the church were pretty sweet! The turnout wasn't bad. I'm hoping to be playing First Night next year. Just as long as I'm not sick...

After writing my last blog entry, I sort of broke out of my lifer's block... sort of... I did write a song. It's called Phila Street Serenade (Ode To The Open Mic). Yes, it has parenthesis in it. Some musicians do that. Anyway, it's a decent song. I think people like it because I mostly hang around with musicians and they can all relate to the concept of the song. It is told from the perspective of someone who has fallen in love with a musician's song or songs. You see, this dude--or dudette--is a little bit lost or down and walks into a cafe to find that there is a musician playing and singing some song or songs about life and how it can be so difficult. Well, the musician isn't perfect by any means but the song hits the spot for the depressed person. The whole concept comes across much cooler in the song. You'll have to come and hear me play it some time :)

Well, this is all I can muster at the moment. The antibiotics are making me feel... well... you don't want to know.
